1st-2nd Logic: Um...Er...Actually, you're right! But...

Teacher (that's me!):  Ok, now let's get our [Spurgeon's] Catechisms!

Teacher:  Q. How did God create man?

Students:  A. God created man, male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness with dominion over the creatures.

Teacher:  So, what does "dominion over the creatures" mean?

Boy:  It means, something like, control over the animals!

Teacher:  Yes!  That's right!  And man has "power" over the animals within God's laws.
So, if you need food to eat, is it okay to go out and kill an animal and eat it for supper?

Boy:  No!  It's not okay...because there are things you have to do to the animal after you kill it before you can actually eat it.

Teacher:  Um...Yes!  You're right.  But if you kill it...then do those things, like skinning it, gutting it, cooking it...then eat it.  Is that okay?

Girl:  No, it's not fine because you can just go to the store to get food.  You don't have to kill an animal.

Teacher:  Hm...hard to argue with that...in America at least.  But what if you don't have money to buy food at the store?  Is it okay to go up and kill a deer in the mountains and bring it home for dinner?

Girl:  Well then your dad should go get a job and get money to buy food at the store.

Teacher:  Oooookay!  Let me try this....is it alright to hunt for food and kill animals, if you want to use it for food?
